Tippecanoe Co. considering new salary increase scale
(2008-08-25)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Tippecanoe County officials are considering a new salary scale, which should save taxpayers money. County employees' salary increases currently work under a seven step plan, and maxes out at 20 years.
But County Auditor Jennifer Weston says Councilors and Commissioners are considering a four step grid.
She says the County could implement the system in phases because the initial cost would be $1.7 million.
The County only budgeted about $900,000 for pay raises next year.
County Councilors are preparing next year's spending plan. They still need to make about $900,000 in cuts. © Copyright 2009, wbaa
