Debate over ambulance purchase continues
(2008-08-20)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
A Tippecanoe County Commissioner says she was surprised by the Council's decision not to approve funding for new ambulances. KD Benson says even though Council members indicated that the hospitals should pay for the emergency vehicles, she thinks the County needs to make sure there is a smooth transition.
Benson says both Clarian Arnett and St. Elizabeth Regional Health are participating in the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee.
She is encouraged by their willingness to discuss working together to provide ambulance service to the County.
Benson says the Council will consider the issue again at its next meeting.
She says the need for new ambulances is critical due to an aging fleet and an increasing number of calls. © Copyright 2009, wbaa
