Purdue group traveling to Hong Kong
(2008-06-03)
(wbaa) - A trip to China for a group from Purdue will focus on research collaboration.

The delegation includes 12 faculty and staff members from the West Lafayette and Calumet campuses.

They'll meeting with researchers and administrators with the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Polytechnic University there later this month.

Associate Vice President for Research Jon Harbor says one of Purdue's long-term goals is to increase global relationships.

He says the trip highlights the prominence Asia holds in the university's strategic plan.

Harbor says this trip follows visits by former President Martin Jischke and Provost Sally Mason to the area.

The Purdue group also will meet with alumni in Hong Kong and industrial representatives to discuss bringing successful research into the marketplace.
