Purdue wins grant for biofuel research
(2009-08-10)
(wbaa) - A U.S. Department of Energy grant will help Purdue researchers improve the biomass to biofuel conversion process.

Maureen McCann is an associate professor of Biological Sciences.

She says by using chemical catalysts and thermal treatments, more fuel can be produced in a more efficient manner.

McCann hopes the five-year, $20 million grant will be a catalyst for other funding focusing on the educational opportunities presented.

She says the new center will be housed in the Bindley Bioscience Center at Discovery Park.

Purdue is one of 46 institutions receiving an Energy grant.
