WEST LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Purdue researcher Suresh Mittal is working with the Centers for Disease Control to create an H1N1 virus vaccine. He is combining a common cold virus with parts of the swine flu strain to develop the medicine.
Creating the vaccine will take two to three weeks. It then can be tested on mice for about a month, before human clinical trials are possible.
Mittal says grad students are helping him with the process.
He says because other scientists are working toward a vaccine, it will mean better technology to combat similar viruses in the future. © Copyright 2012, wbaa
