Lafayette first to enter newly established statewide medical trust
(2009-09-29)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
The Lafayette-West Lafayette healthcare consortium which began three years ago is ending. The two cities agree the partnership designed to bring down insurance costs has not been successful.Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski says his city is entering a new statewide medical trust. As a result, the increase in health insurance should rise 15% instead of 48%.
Roswarski thinks another 15 to 20 cities may join the trust, which the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns is coordinating.
West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis says his city is considering the statewide medical trust, but cost and quality of service are two issues he needs to examine further.
