Purdue working with scientists in India to address growing energy needs
(2009-09-29)
(wbaa) - Addressing energy needs with nanomaterials is the focus of a new collaboration of Purdue and Indian researchers.

The scientists will work together on the West Lafayette campus and in two locations in India - the Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research and General Electric's India Technology Center.

The result is the Joint Networked Center on Nanomaterials for Energy. It's being funded by the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum.

The goal is to come up with new discoveries and develop those into breakthrough technology in energy with global impact.

Faculty and graduate students of all three partners will be able to do work at the other's facilities.

Right now, a student from India is on the West Lafayette campus conducting research at the Birck Nanotechnology Center, while two Purdue students are in India.
