FSSA continues to monitor privatization effort while lawmakers consider what's next

The State Budget Committee will focus next month on the status of a $1 billion privatization contract for Indiana's welfare system.Numerous problems have been identified with the IBM led coalition's take-over of such things as food stamps and Medicaid eligibility.
Family and Social Services Administration Secretary Anne Murphy says a review identified 430 issues and prompted 200 recommendations.
She says some things have changed, but more needs to be done.
The budget committee will take more testimony from those affected by the privatization and review additional information from FSSA in mid-October.
State Senator, and committee chairman, Luke Kenley says what steps to take next will be discussed during at the late-October budget meeting.
