INDIANAPOLIS, IN
(wbaa) -
Supporters and opponents of Sunday alcohol sales in Indiana are increasing their lobbying effort of state lawmakers. Most of those pushing for the change are grocery stores, citing Sunday as the second busiest shopping day of the week.
Specialty food and wine store owner Douglas Pendleton says his Zionsville location would benefit from changing the law.
Package liquor store owners, who oppose lifting the ban, say they would not be able to compete with grocers seven days a week.
John Livengood with the Indiana Association of Beverage Retailers says the existing six days of sales would be spread over seven days.
An interim study committee on alcohol issues heard several hours of testimony Tuesday and have another hearing next month.
