Purdue Volleyball opens the Big Ten season WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - Purdue volleyball is starting the conference season with two top 25 opponents.

The Boilermakers host 16th ranked Michigan State and eighth ranked Michigan this weekend.

The team is riding high after winning three straight matches.

The Boilers are 8-3 thus far this season.

Purdue is relying heavily on outside hitter Carrie Gurnell who leads the team with almost four kills per set.

The Boilermakers play the Spartans Friday night at 7 and the Wolverines on Sunday at 1.
