WLCSC holds its final public hearing

The West Lafayette School Corporation is expected to make a decision about its tax referendum question next month.The district is considering the levy because of its tight financial situation.
School officials have been gathering public comments for the last few months and held the final meeting Wednesday night.
Those not in favor of the measure cited concerns about their fixed incomes or impact on area businesses, but most in the audience were in favor of the proposal.
Janice Wheater-Cowen is a retired West Lafayette teacher.
She says the referendum is necessary to maintain the district's education standard.
Superintendent Rocky Killion is expected to make his recommendation regarding the levy's amount at the next board meeting. © Copyright 2012, wbaa
