Tippecanoe Co. Election & Registration Board making voting site changes
(2009-11-16)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Tippecanoe County is changing some early voting locations for the 2010 Primary and General elections. The Board of Election and Registration decided to remove four sites as polling places.
Those are Regency Place and Rosewalk Village nursing homes, Clarks Hill Christian Church and the State Farm office in West Lafayette.
Election and Registration Co-Director Debbie Ingersoll says the decision is based primarily on an expected lower voter turn-out.
The Clarks Hill site was removed because it will be used as a Vote Center location on Election Days.
The Board also decided to remove the county extension office and McCallister Center in Lafayette for the Primary and General elections.
Ingersoll says that brings the total number of locations down to 19, and will cut down on the number of people needed to staff voting sites.
The Board approved nine new precincts in several townships, due to increased population in the current boundaries.
However, those changes do not affect anyone's legislative or local district representation.
