WL reviewing capacity at its waste water treatment plant
(2010-02-08)
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
The director of West Lafayette's Waste Water Treatment Utility says the city is trying to make sure its sanitary sewer system is able to accommodate residential and business growth over the next 20 years. Dave Henderson says a study is underway to review the existing treatment plant and look at ways to increase capacity.
He says officials will also develop a plan to phase in any capital improvements.
Henderson says the nearly $100,000 study should be complete by this summer.
He says currently the waste water treatment plant processes about nine million gallons a day.
Henderson says the city will aim to increase that to 12-million gallons over the next two decades.
