TEMA could have new space for equipment
(2010-01-04)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
The Tippecanoe Emergency Management Agency could soon be leasing some storage space at a centralized location north of Lafayette.Currently nearly $3 million worth of equipment is stored at several locations around the county, much of it uncovered.
Commissioner Dave Byers says a five-acre site on Swisher Road provides two buildings and some office space.
He says the two-year lease would be at a cost of roughly $81,000 annually.
Byers says the county would have the option to purchase the facility after the two-year lease is up.
The agreement must still be approved by the County Council and then go to a public hearing before Commissioners take a final vote.
