Wabash National subsidiary selling facility and consolidating operations LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - Wabash National is consolidating a division's operations to further cut costs.

The Lafayette manufacturer's Transcraft subsidiary is selling its southern Illinois production facility and moving all its operations to its western Kentucky plant.

Production in Illinois will end by next June.

Transcraft makes flatbed, drop deck, dump trailers and truck bodies.

General Manager Terry Campbell says making a decision that affects so many associates is never easy, but the company buying the Illinois facility has plans to expand its business there.

He says the move strengthens Transcraft, which also closed another plant in Kentucky about two years ago.

Campbell says the move is due to the current economic climate, and will further optimize space and reduce operating costs.
