Purdue to review process of lead notification
(2009-10-12)
(wbaa) - Purdue will be conducting a review of how it informed the campus community of elevated lead levels in the water of five buildings.

The problem was discovered in September but not made public until last week.

University officials say despite the delayed notification, immediate action was taken to ensure lead did not leach into the water of the affected buildings.

The Office of Internal Audits will review the way in which the information was released and report its findings in October.

Meanwhile, new water tests show four of the five buildings now have acceptable lead levels.

The fifth building Lynn Hall remains slightly above state standards.

Bottled water is being supplied to individuals in the building until the problem is rectified.
