WL to pay 60K to get ice rink ready for season
(2009-10-12)
(wbaa) - West Lafayette will spend nearly $60,000 to fix the ice skating rink at Tapawingo Park.

The money is coming from the Levee TIF district.

Instead of ripping up the concrete and replacing the existing pipes, the city is purchasing a rollout mat containing tubing that is placed on top of the rink.

City officials say the technology is being used across the country for seasonal rinks and special events.

The scheduled opening day for the ice rink is the day after Thanksgiving.
