Indiana Pork wants to donate one million meals
(2009-08-11)
(wbaa) - Indiana Pork is launching an effort to donate one-million meals to hungry Hoosier families across the state, including the Lafayette area.

The goal is to provide the meals each year to area food banks.

Indiana Pork's executive director says meat is usually in short supply at pantries and soup kitchens, so the donation will provide high protein meals for clients.

The group also is looking for donations from other farmers and ranchers.

Food Finders Food Bank in Lafayette will receive some of those meals, based on a pre-existing distribution formula.

The first delivery is expected later this fall.

Indiana Pork is a partnership between the Indiana Pork Producers Association and the Indiana Pork Advocacy Coalition.
