(2009-05-06)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
A major food drive in the Lafayette area is set for this weekend. The letter carriers event benefits Food Finders Food Bank locally.
Executive Director Katy Bunder says area pantries have seen an increase of 44% among those seeking help, compared to a year ago.
She says this year's goal of 70,000 pounds is the same amount raised in 2008, but fears that amount may not be enough to last over the summer.
Bunder says Food Finders' other major food drive is the Community Harvest in October.
The letter carriers event is Saturday. Non-perishable dry and canned food should be left at your mailbox for pick-up. © Copyright 2012, wbaa
