Wabash National Third Quarter Loss
(2008-10-30)
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
The CEO of Wabash National says despite tough economic times, the Lafayette-based truck-trailer manufacturer is here to stay. Dick Giromini says the company had a net los of $.14 per share for the third quarter.
That compares to a net increase of $.12 per share for the third quarter last year.
Giromini blames an imbalance between raw material costs and demand for the downturn.
He says the company has instituted many cost-cutting measures, including eliminating 50 salaried positions last year.
Giromini says the remaining full-time employees have agreed to a decrease in their 401K match.
Giromini says it will likely be the beginning of 2010 before the industry gets back on track.
