Tippecanoe Co ambulance bids exceed estimates
(2008-07-07)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Tippecanoe County leaders are considering higher than expected bids for several new ambulances. The Emergency Ambulance Services administrators estimated the cost of each vehicle between $144,000 and $160,000. They hoped to purchase three new ones.
But the two companies which provided bids listed the price of each ambulance at about $164,000.
The service requested the new ambulances earlier this year, citing an increase in the number of calls they respond to and an aging fleet.
Administrators also say the opening of the two new hospitals on the south side of the county will increase the amount of miles they travel each year.
County leaders did not provide a timeline for making a decision on purchasing the ambulances. © Copyright 2012, wbaa
