Tippecanoe juvenile justice center design chosen
(2008-07-07)
(wbaa) - The Tippecanoe County council is expected to vote on funding a juvenile justice center next week.

Council President Tom Murtaugh says the cost of issuing bonds for the nearly $18 million project is low right now.

He thinks moving ahead with plans for a facility with room for admissions, assessment, detention and alternative programs is the best option.

Murtaugh says the council hopes to have information on funding levels from the Department of Corrections before taking a vote. They have a meeting scheduled for July 15th.

Construction of the 38 bed facility is expected to start next year near the county jail.
