Purdue students compete in Air Race WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - Purdue will be one of 36 teams competing in the Air Race Classic, an all-female flight contest.

Captain Marie Janus and co-pilot Juliana Lindner will navigate a lightweight airplane more than two-thousand miles across the United States.

Janus was last year's co-pilot. She says the race can be very demanding.

Purdue's team has had success in the past, finishing first among colleges at last year's Air Race Classic.

The race begins next Tuesday in Montana, and ends Friday in Massachusetts.
