Purdue forwards investigation report to federal authorities WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - The case of a Purdue professor, accused of research misconduct, is under the review of the Office of Naval Research.

The university's investigation committee sent its report on the work of Nuclear Engineering Professor Rusi Taleyarkhan.

The latest investigation began last fall and is in response to several researchers who cannot reproduce Taleyarkhan's work.

He claims to have achieved nuclear fusion by blasting sound waves into bubbles.

A spokesperson for the Office of Naval Research says a thorough review will be conducted by ONR's inspector general. The office gave grant money for some of Taleyarkhan's research.

His attorney says a response will be filed, which challenges the accuracy and adequacy of the university's report. © Copyright 2012, wbaa
