Truitt Announces Candidacy for House District 26
(2008-02-20)
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
A life-long resident of West Lafayette is running for state representative. Republican Randy Truitt announced his candidacy Wednesday.
He just began his second term on the West Lafayette city council and has degrees from Purdue and Indiana Wesleyan University.
Truitt says education will be a priority of his campaign -- noting there are five-school corporations in District-26.
He also plans to focus on property tax reform and job creation.
He likely will not have a challenger for the GOP nomination, but the filing period is open until noon Friday.
Democrat John Polles says he will announce later this week whether he will run for the open seat, but is leaning toward it.
