Democrat Announces Exploratory Committee WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - A Democrat is considering a run for state representative in the Lafayette area.

John Polles has formed an exploratory committee in the 26th District. It's being chaired by incumbent State Rep Joe Micon, who is not seeking re election.

Polles received his doctoral degree from Purdue, taught chemistry there and the U.S. Military Academy, and is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel.

Most recently, Polles served as the president of the West Lafayette Police Merit Commission.

No Republican has announced a formal candidacy, but county GOP chairman Bob Hicks says there are at least three potential candidates considering a run. © Copyright 2012, wbaa
