Sales Down for Wabash National in 2007
(2008-02-11)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Lafayette-based Wabash National is reporting a slight decrease in sales for 2007. The truck-trailer manufacturer had net sales of one- point-one-Billion last year.
That's down roughly 200-thousand dollars from 2006.
Company President and C-E-O Dick Giromini says 2008 will likely get off to a slow start, but is predicting an increase in demand for the second half of the year.
Last week, Wabash National announced it was temporarily laying off 150 employees.
The workers could be called back in mid-March if sales pick up.
Also last week, the company confirmed an agreement with Swift Transportation Company to manufacture 18- hundred new DuraPlate dry vans over the next 12 months.
