As job losses continue to hold America back from full economic recovery, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is launching a new Innovation Agenda - a comprehensive plan to harness all of New York's potential in high-tech industries to grow and attract new businesses, create jobs and restore America's competitiveness in the high-tech economy. Eight out of the nine fastest growing occupations require science and technological skills, but less than one-third of American students are proficient in math and science. China and India are graduating five times more engineers than America - making these countries more competitive in the high-tech global economy. Senator Gillbrand's blueprint for the future focuses on the "high tech sector" - Gillibrand detailed county-by-county analysis from the New York State Department of Labor suggesting that strategic investments in research and development, and science, technology, education and math (STEM) education will spur economic growth in the high-tech sector, and create new jobs for New York.
