ALBANY, NY (WAMC) - The Gulf Coast oil spill is likely to be with us far into the future. The millions of gallons of oil that spewed into the ocean from the crippled BP oil well have created an economic and environmental disaster. But environmentalists believe the one silver lining may be that this accident may spur new interest in preserving the environment, and slowing the rush to tap more fossil fuel. Marcie Keever is Clean Vessels Director for the environmental group Friends of the Earth and she spoke with me by phone from California.
