Proposals for new natural gas pipelines through some areas of New York are stoking concerns among local officials.

Texas-based Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation and Williams Partners LP's 'Constitution Pipeline', announced last week, would run from gas production facilities on Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, to the Iroquois Gas Transmission line and the Tennessee Gas Pipeline in Schoharie County, New York.
Earlier this month, another company, El Paso Corp., which owns Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. LLC, proposed what has referred to as the 'Northeast Exchange Pipeline' for natural gas, also slated to run through Schoharie County.
Schoharie Town Supervisor Gene Milone spoke with WAMC's Patrick Donges about the proposals, and how the Northeast Exchange' plan was introduced to officials.
