Eve Drops Campaign for Lt. Governor
(2006-01-31)
(wned) - There is one less Democratic candidate in the race for Lt. Governor.

Leecia Eve has pulled out of the race. The decision comes after Democratic candidate for governor, State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, said he wanted State Senate Minority Leader David Paterson as his running mate.

Eve, the daughter of former State Assembly Deputy Speaker Arthur Eve, says Spitzer can speak for residents and issues of upstate New York.

"He has spent many times in Western New York...and I believe with all my heart that he gets it. He gets the many challenges that are facing all of us," Eve said.

Eve says she will serve as an advisor to Spitzer's campaign.

"I will do all I can to ensure that Eliot Spitzer is elected the next governor of the State of New York," Eve said.

Eve says she also believes David Paterson will be a strong partner with Spitzer in Albany.
