The rally was organized by unions upset over Governor David Paterson's plan to ease Albany's fiscal crisis by cutting employees' pay.
Henry Joseph of Buffalo says he and his coworkers get paid about a third of what they could make in the private sector.
"We are working at a cut already," said Joseph.
Jane Kolipinski points out the Legislature is only in session three days a week.
"It's very disturbing. They need to be working five days a week. Don't pick on us to take a day off a week without pay. It just isn't fair," said Kolipinski.
Paterson's plan would save an estimated $30 million a day. State employees rallied at in more than a dozen cities across New York as part of the unions "statewide day of action."
