A member of the World Wildlife Fund says he doesn't think the U.N. climate talks are falling apart -- but he says delegates are losing time.
Kim Carstensen says the developing countries boycotting the talks "are making a point."
Representatives from the 135 developing countries brought negotiations to a halt with their demand that rich countries discuss much deeper cuts in their greenhouse gas emissions. They've refused to participate in any formal working groups at the 192-nation summit until the issue is resolved.
The African-led move was largely seen as a ploy to shift the agenda to the responsibilities of the industrial countries.
The goal is to make emissions reductions the first item for discussion when world leaders begin arriving tomorrow. © Copyright 2012, Associated Press
