Senator Gillibrand has hosted economic development roundtables across New York - meeting with local elected officials, community and business leaders to discuss how to grow local economies and the need for long term investments in traditional and 21st century infrastructure.

Gillibrand has unveiled her comprehensive plan to invest in New York infrastructure - it calls for immediate upgrades, long term funding mechanisms for roads and bridges, and investment in new forms of infrastructure by expanding broadband access and implementing health information technology. A critical component of the plan: creation of a National Infrastructure Bank.

Gillibrand compiled a list of 61 "priority" projects she believes should be implemented ASAP: including 6 Billion dollars for the design and construction of a transit-ready REPLACEMENT Tappan Zee bridge... $20 million for the North Shore Rail study, announced last week by New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, 37 Million for projects in the Capital Region - 150 Million dollars for North Country Highways... 8 Million for the Adirondack Rail Rehabilitation Project from Utica to Lake placid and just over 3 Million to improve roads at Plattsburgh International Airport. The Senator stressed that Federal Stimulus Money is not involved in any of the projects appearing on her list.
