According to the Division of Criminal investigation, law enforcement authorities had been investigating the drug trafficking ring since 2008. Methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana were smuggled into Gillette and it was then redistributed in Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota.
Officials have arrested 35 of those indicted and are searching for the others. They believe the leaders of the drug ring are in Mexico. Authorities say that some of those indicted hauled stolen four wheelers and trailers from Oregon to Gillette and others are charged with immigration and firearms violations. Wyoming's Director of Criminal Investigation Forest Bright says this shows how pervasive the drug problem is in Campbell County and the region.
