(WAMC) - Charts of projected world population growth look like the up ramps of a rollercoaster...with a report from the UN Population Fund projecting that the world's population will explode from two and a half billion in 1950, to just under nine billion one hundred years later. Today, Laura Iiyama reports on efforts in Nepal that show just what this means.

Okay, let's talk about the F-word. Feminism. There was a time when it was a call to arms, a battle cry for equal rights and equal pay. Almost ten years into the new millennium, women still earn 70 cents on the dollar compared to men, and Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign was as much about her wardrobe as it was about her qualifications. So what does feminism mean now? Katie Britton chats with Amanda Marcotte, author, blogger and feminist.

Whatever you earn, are you managing to save any money? Many of us are discovering a new relationship with the dollar bill as the recession drags on. And financial expert Manisha Thakor thinks it's time for reviving a system that translates what you spend, into what it actually costs you.

4:22 Thakor

Manisha Thakor is a financial expert, commentator and author. You can learn more about her at the website for her first book, onmyowntwofeet.com.

This week on 51%, we're talking about big issues - how population growth impacts every aspect of our lives...how feminism is changing in the new millennium. Financial expert Manisha Thakor dusts off an old idea that's making a lot of sense again. But Kimberly Kay has a commentary on an issue that everyone with a computer can relate to - people who send forwards. Is it life or death? Nope. But when you find six of these internet-age chain letters in your inbox, it sure does seem like a big issue.
