(WAMC) - Anyone with a computer or a cell phone will tell you they're communicating more than ever before...it's almost an obsession. But are we forgetting how to have a conversation?
Catherine Blyth's new book, The Art of Conversation, laments the loss of real verbal connection - and offers fun and relatively easy advice to make what you say count.

6:56 Blyth

Catherine Blyth's book is The Art of Conversation. It is published by John Murray Publishing. Her website is Catherine (with a C) Blyth (blyth) dot com.

Coming up, more communication conversations - this time how the web is revolutionizing the business world.

8:43)

Corporate communications used to be pretty straightforward...write a newsletter, send out an office memo. But we're in a web 2.0 world...where companies can open their virtual doors to the globe and one nasty blog can create a PR nightmare. Roula Amire is executive editor for Ragan dot com in Chicago - one of the leaders in pushing corporations to use the Internet to transform not only their images...but the way they do business.

We're not done talking about communication yet - what about those handwritten notes your mother insisted were the polite thing to do? Does anyone even do those anymore? Florence Isaacs does, and she's written a book that tells you why you should, too. It's called Just a Note to Say: The Perfect Words for Every Occasion.

4:39 Isaacs Barnett

Florence Isaacs has a new book coming out this spring..not surprisingly, it's about communication and is called, What Do You Say When: Talking to People With Confidence on Any Social or Business Occasion. It is being published by Random House.

Finally today, let's stop talking about communicating and do it. Sabrina Artel travels around the country talking with people at the kitchen table in her vintage tow along camper. And in this time of economic trouble, the topic is one we can all relate to.
