A new report says unemployment rates among Michigan workers without a high school diploma are at least four times higher than those of workers with a college degree.
The Michigan League of Human Services report comes as the state deals with its highest level of joblessness in more than 15 years.
The state's unemployment rate in July was 8.5 percent, the highest since late 1992. Michigan has had the nation's highest average annual unemployment rate since 2006.
The report says the jobless rate among Michigan residents without high school diplomas hit 20 percent in 2007. The rate for those with a bachelor's degree or higher was less than 5 percent.
State officials are working to increase the number of high school and college graduates.
