In a move that caught state leaders and SUNY officials by surprise, Ryan announced yesterday that he's taking a corporate training position in North Carolina. He says he's leaving with "mixed emotions."
UB President John Simpson said Ryan was a "truly outstanding leader." Simpson said Ryan was a "strong advocate" of UB's strategic plan for the future.
Ryan's last day will be May 31st.
Governor Spitzer's office says Deputy Secretary for Education Manuel Rivera will work closely with the SUNY Board of Trustees on the selection process for a new chancellor.
