In honor of National Pro Bono Week, Prisoners’ Legal Services (PLS) invites you to join us for hors d’oeuvres and drinks as it toasts the outstanding contributions of our dedicated volunteers.
On October 21st, PLS, in collaboration with the Soul Rebel Performance Troupe, will present an intimate look into the lives of incarcerated parents and senior citizens. The event, entitled “Bookends: The Effects of Incarceration on Children and the Elderly,” will explore the experiences of incarcerated New Yorkers, separated from their loved ones during the most vulnerable times in life: childhood and old age.
Local actors will perform letters and poems written by New York’s incarcerated mothers, fathers, and grandparents, providing a glimpse into their sorrow and joy, disappointment and hope, fear and strength.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Seating is limited, so RSVPs are encouraged and can be made to firstname.lastname@example.org or 518-445-6050. For more information, please visit www.plsny.org.
