Rich's: A Civil Rights Legacy, Part 1
Rich's is well-remembered by many long-time Atlanta residents for its hospitality and community service.
But there was a time when it made headlines - as one of the frontlines of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.
Rich's status as the southeast's premiere department store made it a primary target in the desegregation efforts of 1960 and '61.
WABE's Kate Sweeney spoke with four people active in the sit-ins and picketing at Rich's: Charles Black, Julian Bond, Lydia Tucker-Douglas and Lonnie King.
