DTV assistance centers in metro atlanta
ATLANTA, GA
(WABE) -
In Metro Atlanta, there are still 97 thousand people who don't have what they need to watch television come February 17th.
That's when all TV stations are scheduled to go from analog to digital.
Today, advocates opened three centers to help less affluent viewers stay tuned.
The assistance centers are in Doraville, College Park and on Auburn Avenue in Atlanta. Those areas are where advocates feel residents disproportionately need TV for emergency information.
MCDONALD: "We want to make sure that our elderly, our people of color, those who speak other languages have the same information at the same time."
That's Rev. Tim McDonald of First Iconium Baptist Church. Church leaders worry some of their members can't afford boxes that convert analog to digital. They cost at least 40 dollars. There were federal coupons but they've run out and the waiting list grows longer by the day.
Here are addresses and numbers for each center:
DTV assistance center in College Park:
New Life AME Zion Church
