John Lewis on the Election
(2008-11-05)
John Lewis on Election day, thanking people for voting.
(WABE) - Lewis first gained notoriety in the 1960's as chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee or SNCC. Later in March of 1965 - in what became known as Bloody Sunday - he and others were beaten and tear gassed by Alabama State Troopers as they attempted to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

WABE's David Barasoain caught up with Congressman Lewis on Election day to ask him about the historic nature of this election and his vote.
