Voting advocates urge early voting
(2008-09-23)
(WABE) - Thousands of Georgians continue to take advantage of early voting. However, other Georgians are still skeptical about the process.

Local elections officials are trying to ease their concerns.

When you vote early between now and late October, you're essentially voting absentee. That means, in some cases, a paper ballot.

Thousands of metro Atlantans have voted that way since Friday. However, not every voter is keen on having to cast an absentee ballot. April Pye is the Interim Chief for Fulton County's elections office.

PYE: Some people think that absentee ballots are counted only if it's a close race and some just think that they're just not counted. That is truly a myth.

Pye and other government officials are collaborating with the advocacy group, Election Protection, to in part boost voter confidence.

They've set up a toll free hotline and website for voters with questions or concerns about the voting process.
