Georgians React to Palin Speech
(2008-09-04)
(WABE) - Georgians had mixed reactions to Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's speech. Palin was a surprise addition to John McCain's ticket, and many voters got their first real introduction to the relatively unknown politician last night.

Macon resident Tresa Cranford is deciding who she'll vote for in November. She doesn't identify particularly with either party. She says after watching Palin speak, she's started feeling excited about this election for the first time:

CRANFORD: I came out thinking that I want to know a whole lot more about her. But she seems to be intelligent, she came across knowledgeable on several issues, including energy

But Dwan Packnett, also of Macon, said she and some other women who watched Palin's speech together had a different reaction:

PACKNETT: Folks were shocked at how mean she appeared. Up until then, I was fairly sympathetic, because I did feel as though she was getting a lot of press coverage that I felt was somewhat unwarranted about her daughter and all of that. But then when I heard her, I guess I was just surprised.

Packnett supports Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama.
