(2009-09-28)
(WABE) - ((Keep ya head up ))
Some called him controversial and even conflicted but the contributions of rapper Tupac Shakur are rooted in his depiction of urban life through strong lyrical prose.
((keep ya head up ))
Now, a decade after his death, a collection featuring Shakur's handwritten lyrics, personal journals and other items will be housed at the Robert W. Woodruff Library.
Tre Maxey is a board member of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation:

((teachers and professors were using Tupac's lyrics and words as part of their educational courses so we said we have lot more documents that they don't have access to what if we provided that as a tool for research))

Maxey says the archives will provide an intimate look inside the beginnings of Shakur's rap songs and poetry:

((he really covers a lot issues such as the war in Iraq, the projects and government's impact on that, he talks about violence growing up as a young black male..he talks about a lot issues))

The collection is scheduled to open in the fall of next year.
