Consumers Moving Slow On Back To School Spending
ATLANTA, GA
(WABE) -
So where are they shopping?
Jacquelyn Brewer owns the consignment shop Once Again Kids in Suwanee says there's been an increase in customers looking for slightly used designer clothes:
((in our store we carry a lot of name brands stuff that people can't normally afford but here it's at a good price and good quality))
Blame it on the recession because back to school spending is down according to a recent survey from the National Retail Federation.
Results of the survey found the average person will spend 5-hundred and 48 dollars on clothing and supplies that's only off 46-dollars off from last year.
But Kathy Grannis with the federation says when it all adds up:
((it will drop about 3 billon dollars to come out to 17-billion))
Grannis says the survey also showed consumers are picking up supplies at neighborhood drugstore she believes that's to save on gas and because of back to school sales.
