Fulton County confirms 1st cases of swine flu
(2009-05-15)
(WABE) - Fulton County health officials Friday confirmed the county's first cases of H1N1 or swine flu.

Officials say a 6-year old girl, a 54-year-old male and a 32 year-old female contracted the illness.

Dr. Kim Turner, Fulton's Interim Public Health Director, says it's unclear how each person got swine flu.

TURNER: "That's why it's so important that you do preventive measure because you just don't know who you may be in contact with whom may had exposure."

Dr. Turner says the 3 cases are not related. She did confirm the man took a recent trip to Mexico unlike the woman and the girl.

The only one of the 3 to have symptoms greater than mild was the woman. She was hospitalized and is recovering. The girl and the man were not hospitalized. The girl attends Amana Academy. The public charter school has not been closed but parents have been notified.

In Georgia, there are 25 confirmed cases of swine flu. No one in the state has died from the illness.
