Pests Prove Profitable for Atlanta-based Orkin
Rollins, Inc. (Orkin's parent company) spokeswoman Martha Craft says bugs don't know times are tough.
"We laugh that the insects and the rodents don't read the Wall Street Journal, so they don't know we're having a recession and they keep doing what they've been doing for the past million years," said Craft.
Although there's been a slight dip in Orkin's residential business, Craft says commercial sales remain strong. Businesses can cut back on lots of things, but pest control unusually isn't one.
Of the 100-plus new jobs, about a dozen are here in Atlanta. They range from administrative to management.
Orkin employs 8,000 people in North America, including 400 at its Atlanta headquarters.
