Metro Atlanta Unemployment Inches Up
10.1% of metro Atlantans were looking for work last month. That's up one-tenth of one percentage point from November.
Even so, it's slightly better than the state average, which for December climbed to 10.3%.
County-specific data show Fulton County matched the state average, while DeKalb was a slightly lower 10.1%. Gwinnett and Cobb fared better, at 9 and 9.3% respectively. Clayton County's unemployment rate, however, was 12.3%.
In all, nearly 270,000 people in the metro area were looking for work in December.
